Hello Manchester! B Works Opens its Doors

< back to all business news articles

Incase you missed the news, CYBG just opened up a new flagship SME hub and retail store on Manchester's Market Street!

B Works, powered by Yorkshire Bank opened its doors on January 14th 2019 and provides the North West’s businesses and entrepreneurs a place to learn, work and bank, with extensive co-working space, bookable private meeting rooms to meet clients, a built in social studio to help businesses create content for their digital marketing, in-house exercise sessions including yoga to help busy consumers and business owners to improve their wellbeing and more.

The store is open to our customers (both retail and business) and non-customers alike. As B Works is powered by Yorkshire Bank, a brand with a rich heritage of supporting business growth across the North, Yorkshire Bank business accounts and other products and services to help SMEs are available in the space, while anyone can also open Yorkshire Bank and B retail accounts in-store.

Through the facilities available at B Works we will help to spur growth within the local business community, and we have also established partnerships with leading organisations in the North West to help us achieve this goal. These include pro-manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University, Freeformers, DWF, Manchester Growth Company, University of Manchester Alliance Business School and the fashion giant Boohoo. These partners will provide services in-store to support Manchester's businesses.

On launch day at B Works, we were delighted to welcome our CEO David Duffy, (seen below right with DWF's Iain Shurwood and Jonathan Patterson and our Group Customer Banking Director Gavin Opperman) who met with some of our partners to reaffirm how we will play our part in supporting the region’s thriving SME community.

He also spoke with long-standing Yorkshire Bank business customers including Phil Foster, the Chief Executive of Love Energy Savings – a Bolton-based firm that Yorkshire Bank has supported for a number of years by helping them to scale up and expand.

Speaking during his visit to the store, David said: “Our heritage & track record for supporting SMEs & the economy in the north of England is well-known. I’m delighted we’re further strengthening our presence in Manchester by opening our B Works store.

“Small firms and local entrepreneurs are forecast to contribute £12bn to the local economy by 2020 and with the number of SMEs operating in the region increasing by 36% in the last eight years, Manchester is an exciting place to do business.”

The store may be new, but we’ve been thrilled to see how it has been received thus far by the people of Manchester and our customers.

With B Works, we’re aiming to provide a real tangible benefit to businesses across the North West region by helping them to thrive with the services we offer in-store. We’re hugely excited for what the future holds in the space. So if you’re a Mancunian or even from further afield, pop in and experience the future of banking!
