If you've recently spoken with our Bereavement Services Team and they have asked you to send in documents to help process account changes or closures, you can send us what we need here.
Documents you can send us
We will have asked you for one or more of the following documents. If you don't have everything we need to hand right now don't worry - you can come back and resubmit documents at any time.
Bereavement documents
Death Certificate
If you have received a copy from the Registrar you can upload this.
Will
Make sure all pages of the Will have been signed and witnessed.
Funeral Invoice
Send this and we will ensure it's paid on your behalf. This invoice must be on letterhead paper stating the name of the Funeral Directors Business.
Grant of Probate (England & Wales)
If you know the deceased estate is valued above £35,000 you will need to apply for a Grant Of Probate. We require a copy of this before we can close the account.
Certificate of Conformation (Scotland)
If you know the deceased estate is valued above £35,000 you will need to apply for a Certificate of Conformation. We require a copy of this before we can close the account.
Other
This option can be used for additional documents we may request from you in relation to a Bereavement. This could be a Discharge & Indemnity form, a care home bill, or an IHT (Inheritance Tax form)

Make sure
- It's current and signed by you.
- Your photo, name, date of birth, signature, passport number, expiry date and country of issue are clear.
Make sure
- The license was issued in the UK.
- It is current and signed.
- You can give us images of both the front and back of the license.
Make sure
- It is current - issued by the Home Office - and signed by you.
Non-UK documents
Your current photo passport from a country other than the UK.
Make sure
- It's current and signed by you.
- Your photo, name, date of birth, signature, passport number, expiry date and country of issue are clear.
Your current photo driving license issued by the EU, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland.
Make sure
- The license was issued by the EU, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland.
- It is current and signed.
- You can give us images of both the front and back of the license.
Your current photo identity card issued by the EU, Liechtenstein or Switzerland.
Make sure
- It is current and signed within the signature box by you.
Taking a good photo
Already got electronic versions of documents? If you already have any of your documents in an electronic format (such as PDF) there is no need to photograph them, you can upload them as they are.
If you need to send us proof of ID, here's some guidance on getting a good photo:
A few tips:
- Use a well-lit room
- Don't use flash
- Check focus. If it's out of focus, please retake it
- Hold the camera directly above your document
- Get everything required in the frame

Once we have received your documents we will respond to your submission within 5 working days.
