Request a Personal Loan payment holiday

Is a Personal Loan payment holiday the right thing for me?

If you're worried about not being able to make your monthly loan repayments in the short term, then you can use this form to apply for a payment holiday for up to three months.

The quickest and easiest way for you to apply for a payment holiday is to use the form provided.

If you have more than one Clydesdale Bank or Yorkshire Bank Personal Loan you'll need to complete a form for each of your loans.

You must continue to make your monthly loan repayments until we confirm that your payment holiday has started.

Frequently asked questions

If you have any questions on requesting a payment holiday from your Personal Loan, take a look at our frequently asked questions below.

What is a personal loan payment holiday?

A personal loan payment holiday is a break from your monthly loan repayments for up to three months.

Who can apply for a personal loan payment holiday?

Anyone named on the personal loan can apply for a payment holiday but it is not the only solution we can offer you.

Once you've applied, we'll work to identify the most suitable solution based on your situation. For example, you might need more support if you've had a permanent change to your circumstances or you're in arrears.

What will happen to the interest on my personal loan?

You'll not be charged any additional interest over the term of your loan by taking a payment holiday.

What if I pay by Standing Order or Direct Debit

You'll need to arrange to cancel your Standing Order during the period of the payment holiday and start it again when your payment holiday ends.

If you pay by Direct Debit, it will be suspended and we won’t take any payments until the payment holiday has ended.

If your Direct Debit is due within the next five days, unfortunately we can’t stop that payment, you’ll need to get in touch with your bank to cancel it. If you’re charged a return payment fee, we’ll refund this.

What happens when my payment holiday ends?

At the end of the payment holiday, your contractual repayments will resume, and the term of your loan will be extended to cover the duration of your payment holiday.

Will this affect my credit rating?

We'll make sure the payment holiday doesn’t have a negative impact on your credit file.

When will my payment holiday begin?

If you ask for a payment holiday, we'll review your request. If we can give you a payment holiday, we'll get in touch to confirm when it has started. If we can't offer you a payment holiday then we'll get in touch with you to discuss alternative options.

You must continue to make your monthly loan repayments until we confirm that your payment holiday has started.

What if I need more help?

There’s more information on our website about how we can help you here (Link opens in a new tab). You can also get free independent financial advice or help from a number of charities and not-for-profit organisations, like the ones listed below:

What happens next?

Once we've received your form we'll aim to get back to you in the next 7 days to confirm if your application has been successful and when your payment holiday will begin if it's approved.

Already taken a Personal Loan payment holiday?

Before your payment holiday ends, please complete our online form. We will use the information you provide to make sure we're giving you enough support to manage your account.

Even if you can afford to resume making your monthly payments, it's still important that you tell us, as this means we won't attempt to follow up with you again later.
