The Radbourne family have purchased 98 of the 170 acres of Wiltshire-based Abbotswood Farm, after agreeing an £800,000 finance package with Clydesdale Bank. The land was previously rented from the Crown Estate on an FBT (Farm Business Tenancy).
With funding to support the purchase of Abbottswood Farm, the family will now have the opportunity to expand their existing businesses and explore new opportunities.
The farm already supports a successful DIY and hunter livery yard and with the farm now in family ownership the intention is to expand the livery enterprise, resurface the riding arena and improve the cross country course. The long term goal is to host British Eventing competitions, such as they already do with a National Team Chase event.
Stuart Radbourne has said: “We are thrilled with the support and funding that Clydesdale Bank has given us. It has enabled us to achieve a major family ambition of owning our own farm. My father has worked in farming since he left school, having managed farms and run a successful agricultural contracting business. My mother has worked in veterinary practice for the last 30 years. This depth of experience and the families association with horses mean we have what it takes to make Abbottswood Farm a success. “
Justin Hayward, Relationship Manager, Agribusiness, Clydesdale Bank, said: “The Radbourne family have shown great commitment and determination to build this success business and our support reflects their ambition and entrepreneurial spirit. We look forward to working with them as they continue to grow.”
