Research released from Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks has revealed that Brits are more community focused than ever before, with 40 per cent of UK residents claiming they are already actively involved in their neighbourhood.
That’s why Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks is launching the Spirit of Community Awards in Britain, to reward those superstar neighbours and unsung heroes who are keeping community spirit alive.
Entrants will be in with a chance of winning a special award and £1,000 each, £500 of which will be donated directly to a local community group or local charity of the winner’s choice. The deadline for Spirit of Community Award entries is Monday 30 August 2010.
Dean Cutbill, director at Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks said: “Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks appreciate the importance of strong communities. We understand that it’s the role that people play within their own neighbourhoods which helps build stronger communities which is why we have launched a new initiative to discover and celebrate those individuals that are going the extra mile.
“Maybe you know someone who helps out at a youth club in their spare time, puts on coffee mornings for the elderly, champions fundraising or even gets people together to help improve your local environment? If you do, please nominate them through our web site.”
