Bonnington Plastics launches new product range

06/07/2011

A major manufacturer of gardening, DIY, leisure and homeware products has launched a new arm of the business – and has already secured £1 million of new orders.

Bonnington Plastics Limited, parent company of the Kingfisher Brand, has launched its Halloween and Christmas decorations and accessories product ranges from its headquarters in Nottingham with backing from Yorkshire Bank.

The rapidly expanding firm’s diversification includes the designing, manufacturing and supplying of a wide range of decorations and fancy dress costumes to retailers across the UK and is being supported by Yorkshire Bank through its Investing for Growth initiative.

The new arm of the business will be operated from Bonnington Plastic’s 150,000 sq ft head office on Glaisdale Parkway which the firm moved into last summer with funding from Yorkshire Bank’s Derby Financial Solutions Centre (FSC).

Ian Fisher, MD of Bonnington Plastics, said the new products would provide a key area of growth for the firm outside its traditional seasonal summer gardening market.

“We’re entering the market with products which have fantastic designs and are very reasonably priced,” he said.

“With the release of our Christmas 2011 and Big Reaper Halloween collections we’re confident we have launched the most competitively priced range of decorations and accessories available on the market.

“The merchandise includes almost 250 products and we have in fact already secured orders of around £1 million which speaks volumes for the range we have put together.”

Fisher said the launch fits in with Bonnington Plastics’ other operations and the firm would be working with Yorkshire Bank to achieve further growth.

“Yorkshire Bank is providing on-going funding to enable us to hold stock and support with our diversification, which we see as a key area of growth,” he added.

“Our gardening business is really thriving and continues to grow at great pace and launching this venture fits in well with this as we can fully utilise the room we’ll have for storage in our new warehouses when orders come in during the quieter winter period.”

Dave Simpson, senior partner at Yorkshire Bank’s FSC in St Peter’s Street, Derby, said Bonnington Plastics’ move to its new headquarters was the launch pad the company needed to continue to grow at great pace.

“Bonnington Plastics is always on the lookout for quality growth opportunities and has not looked back since making the move to Glaisdale Park,” he said.

“Yorkshire Bank is pleased to be supporting the firm again with this exciting new venture through the Investing for Growth initiative which is perfect for companies wanting to buy new premises or fund the launch of new products.”
