An expanding Burton-on-Trent print and mail company has made a six-figure investment to continue driving the company forward.
PHD Mail, of Falcon Close, has bought two state-of-the-art machines with backing from Yorkshire Bank’s Financial Solutions Centre (FSC) in Derby to be able to compete for larger printing contracts.
The two Pitney Bowes APS inserter systems take printed forms before folding, collating and inserting them into envelopes ready to be posted.
Colin Brooks, managing director of PHD Mail, said the new machines would enable the company to be more cost-effective.
“We felt we needed to make this investment in the latest mailing technology, despite the current economic climate, to keep pace with our competitors particularly since many are much larger than PHD Mail,” he said.
“These innovative machines use a high-speed camera system for absolute integrity when collating forms which speeds up the whole process. The increased capacity of these machines means we can turn around up to 20,000 items per hour per machine.
“This means that we can tender for larger volume contracts which require tighter deadlines. An equally important benefit in an increasingly competitive market place is that we can offer a more cost-effective solution to our clients whilst retaining a reasonable level of profit to underpin future investment and safeguard jobs.
“We would like to thank Yorkshire Bank for their support because we appreciate this is a tough time.
“They have never refused a request for funding and have always had total faith in our understanding of our specialised business and its financial needs even when times have been difficult.”
Nigel Wilson, business partner at Yorkshire Bank in St Peter’s Street, Derby, said the company had 20 years’ experience in dealing with transactional and direct mail.
“We are pleased to maintain our support for an innovative local company that is determined not to stand still,” he said.
“These machines will enable PHD Mail to bid for larger contracts and provide their customers with an even speedier and trustworthy service.”
