England rugby legend passes on top tips to pupils

03/11/2011

Mike Catt, former England World Cup hero and Clydesdale Bank ambassador, shared his sporting wisdom with promising young rugby players in a special training session yesterday (2 November) at St Joseph’s College in Ipswich.

The former England back, capped 75 times for his country, helped coach lucky pupils from the 1st XV side, aged between 16-18 years. The session was followed by a special autograph signing for the players and young rugby squad members.

Robyn Jones, Acting Director of Rugby, St Joseph’s College, said: “This was a marvellous opportunity for pupils to engage and interact with a true rugby great. We would like to thank Mike and Clydesdale Bank for providing this invaluable experience to our pupils.”

Andrew Pike, Managing Partner at Clydesdale Bank’s Financial Solutions Centres in East Anglia, said: “We are thrilled to have Mike as a Clydesdale Bank ambassador and to have the opportunity to bring him to meet pupils today to pass on his top sporting advice. This visit further demonstrates our commitment to developing the UK's future sporting talent.”

Earlier in the day Mike visited the Holiday Inn Orwell in Ipswich, where he gave an inspiring talk to local businesses, revealing how the same motivational techniques used in high performance sport can be transferred to the business world. A Q&A session followed the talk.
