Plastic materials convertor proves its master of the rolls

One of the North West’s leading suppliers of manufacturing materials is looking to significant growth after agreeing a £300,000 finance package with Yorkshire Bank.

Film & Foil, based in Haydock, imports and converts a range of plastic materials including polyester film from Europe and Asia and converts them into narrow width rolls and long rolls using a process called spooling.

The materials are then distributed into the UK and Europe to be used on anything from building cabling to birthday card laminates.

Founded in 2008, Film & Foil posted its biggest ever turnover figure in 2010, a 200 per cent increase over the previous year, and is on track to double that figure in 2011.

The firm, which also offers print lamination for a wide range of films, has over 180 clients throughout the UK and Europe, including the retail giant Hallmark.

Ian Hillman, managing director at Film & Foil, said: “As a business, we are now operating more efficiently than ever and continue to post improved financial results and are working with our highest number of clients. We have had a strong relationship with Yorkshire Bank for a number of years and this finance will help us exceed our objectives.“

David Haworth, business partner at Yorkshire Bank’s Liverpool Financial Solutions Centre, said: “In less than three years Film & Foil has more than trebled turnover and has an ambitious, yet achievable, growth strategy. It has built up a network of key clients in a range of different sectors and this has put the business in a very good position for the future.”

The firm, which has doubled its employee numbers to 15 this year, has three factories at its 14,000 sq ft manufacturing plant in Haydock, St Helens.

As well as spooling, the company specialises in slitting, rewinding and sheeting, and processes over a million rolls of specialist plastic film each year.
