Celebrity chef Brian Turner gave a group of Reading students a masterclass this week when he visited a local college.
Under the supervision of the celebrity chef, a group of level two catering students at Reading College got to grips with new techniques to prepare a healthy three-course menu for more than fifty local business professionals and members of the college’s advisory board yesterday (Tuesday 4th March).
Acting in his capacity as a Clydesdale Bank ambassador, Brian then shared some culinary secrets with the group, before giving them insights on developing a successful restaurant career.
After the meal, Brian rounded off the evening with a speech and lively Q&A session, where he discussed his own training and views on investing in developing the UK’s young people.
Lesley Donoghue, Principal of Reading College, said:
“We’re pleased to welcome Brian to Reading College; I know our students enjoyed the opportunity to learn from such a respected and skilled chef. Here at the College, we focus on equipping students with the employability skills they need to succeed. By working alongside Brian for this event, our students can see first-hand that they are learning relevant industry skills.”
Mark Laughlan, head of Clydesdale Bank’s Business & Private Banking Centre in Reading, said:
“The event was a huge success and we have had great feedback from those who came along and took part on the day."
“Brian Turner offered valuable support to students and staff alike. His knowledge and enthusiasm for cooking has inspired many budding chefs and acts as a testament to what dedication and hard work can achieve.”
