Following the appointment of Jim Pettigrew as Chairman earlier this month, Clydesdale Bank PLC has announced Ian Smith is to become its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Ian, who joins the Bank in October, will serve on the Bank’s UK Executive Committee reporting to Chief Executive David Thorburn.
Ian Smith joins Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks from Deloitte where he has been a partner specialising in financial services for a total of 12 years.
In addition to his time at Deloitte, Ian held senior Finance roles with Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LBG) in 2009 and HBOS PLC in 2008.
An Economics graduate of Aberdeen University, Ian is a chartered accountant. He lives near Kinross.
David Thorburn, Chief Executive, said: “Ian brings tremendous expertise and experience gained from over 20 years of broad-based Finance roles in both the financial and manufacturing sectors. I look forward to welcoming him as our new CFO and am confident his skills will be invaluable as we continue to build a better bank for our customers.”
Ian will take up the role which became vacant earlier this year when former CFO, Scott Butterworth, took up a new role with NAB Group in Australia.
