Yorkshire Bank helped landlords and potential investors get the most out of their investments at an educational buy-to-let event that took place during the Bank’s Private Week.
The event was held at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre in Spilsby, home to one of the last operational Lancaster Bombers named ‘Just Jane’, and was hosted in partnership with accountants Wright Vigar and letting agency HE Lettings.
The session attracted 50 guests from all three companies, some with an existing property portfolio and some looking to invest in the sector for the first time. A number of presentations were delivered on the theme of buy-to-let property purchase and financing, designed to clarify the process and benefits of this type of investment.
Growing competition in the buy-to-let sector has led to an increasing choice of attractive products. The event aimed to inform attendees of the opportunities they can capitalise on within this area.
Paul Shephard, Director of Business and Private Banking at Yorkshire Bank, introduced the event. This was followed by presentations from Jonathan Spencer, Private Banking Relationship Manager at Yorkshire Bank, Julia Clarke, Director of Taxation and Pamela Durham, Senior Tax Manager at Wright Vigar and Sam O’May, Senior Branch Manager at HE Lettings.
Guests also heard from David Panton, joint owner of the museum and the Lancaster Bomber. David’s father Fred, who sadly passed away in 2013, and Fred’s brother Harold, set up the museum 27 years ago as a tribute to the 55,500 men of Bomber Command who were killed in WW2. This sadly included Fred’s older Brother Christopher, who was killed in a Nuremburg raid in March 1944. After learning about its heritage, guests were given the opportunity to explore the museum and ‘Just Jane’, the Lancaster Bomber.
Paul Shephard, Director of Business and Private Banking at Yorkshire Bank, said: "Buy-to-let is an initiative we hear about often in the media, but many of those stepping into the rental market for the first time are not aware of how they can get involved with the scheme or how it can benefit them directly. This event aimed to fully equip them with this knowledge in the unique setting of the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre."
"Private Week was launched to create an opportunity for existing and potential customers to come together to learn from each other and discuss the issues that affect them."
Yorkshire Bank's Private Week is being held from 23rd–27th March, offering customers a variety of events across the UK, including a number of high profile events in the East of England area.
