City Restaurant renovates with funding from Clydesdale Bank

11 December 2015

Edinburgh’s City Restaurant has undergone a full re-brand and refurbishment after securing £150,000 funding from Clydesdale Bank.

Redevelopment of the popular eatery on Nicolson Street coincides with its 20th anniversary celebrations.

Clydesdale Bank supported the renovation with a £150,000 funding package facilitated by Graeme Muir, Relationship Manager at Clydesdale Bank’s Business and Private Banking Centre in Edinburgh.

The family restaurant was established in 1995 by Guiseppe and Margerita Pia, but has been run by their son Marco and his wife, Joanne since 2009.

City Restaurant has been fully redecorated inside and kitchen equipment has been upgraded. The business’ website and menu design have also been overhauled.

Marco said: “We felt that the decor in the dining area was getting a little bit tired, so we wanted to invest in refreshing it. The fact that it’s also the business’ 20th anniversary is a happy coincidence.

“As well as the dining area, we invested in the kitchen and on refreshing our branding. We’re now serving even better food to even more customers so the development has been a real success.

“We’ve also installed more booth seating upstairs which makes it has further enhanced the customer experience.

“Clydesdale Bank’s support has been invaluable in helping us achieve our goal of revitalising the business.”

Stephen Buchan, Head of Clydesdale Bank’s Business and Private Banking Centre in Edinburgh, said: “It’s great to see City Restaurant still looking for ways to improve its offering 20 years after opening.

“Clydesdale Bank is proud to support businesses targeting growth and investing in their future. We look forward to continuing working with Marco and his family.”
