Clydesdale Bank is celebrating 25 years at the Thainstone Centre in Inverurie.
The Bank opened a branch in the centre, which acts an agricultural hub for the north east of Scotland, in 1990 to coincide with the establishment of the Thainstone Mart - then one of the UK’s biggest cattle auction centres. Clydesdale Bank now employs 12 staff at its Thainstone base, including managers, credit specialists and associates, each of whom has specialist knowledge of the agribusiness sector.
The branch is also responsible for initiating Clydesdale Bank’s long-standing sponsorship of the Thainstone Spectacular, which takes place today.
The annual show and sale, organised by Aberdeen & Northern Marts, part of the ANM Group - owners of the Thainstone Centre - is one of the leading sales of exhibition cattle. Buyers from across the UK attend the event seeking stock capable of competing at other national events.
The Bank contributes the majority of the prize money on offer at the Thainstone Spectacular and has been the main sponsor of the event since it was established in 1992.
John Gregor, Executive Director of the ANM Group, said: “We wish to congratulate Clydesdale Bank on 25 years at Thainstone Centre.
“We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Clydesdale Bank for its continued sponsorship of the Thainstone Spectacular, which is renowned throughout the UK as the place to source cattle with excellent future showing potential. The sponsorship funding provided by Clydesdale Bank is integral to attracting top quality livestock and enhancing our appeal to buyers.”
David Hannon, Head of Agribusiness at Clydesdale Bank, said: “We are delighted to celebrate our 25th anniversary at the Thainstone Centre.
“Agriculture is and always has been a key sector for Clydesdale Bank, and our size, flexibility and deep industry knowledge, assisted by key partnerships with organisations such as Scotland Food & Drink, enables us to support the farming community.
“Following the inclement summer weather and continued pressure on agricultural commodity prices, it’s important that the local community know that we’re here and ready to work with them, to help with the opportunities and face the challenges ahead.”
