A growing South Yorkshire supplier to the construction sector is anticipating a period of sustained growth and job creation, with the opening of a new site supported by Yorkshire Bank.
Family-run Green Bros supplies electrical and plumbing materials to the construction industry. The company was established ten years ago by brothers Paul, Lee and James Green to serve the building sector across Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire.
The company is soon to open a new purpose-built 6,000 sq ft sales and warehousing facility in Retford, replacing its existing site in the town and complementing sales sites in Barnsley and Doncaster. The new facility has been supported by a £300,000 loan provided by Yorkshire Bank in a deal arranged by Richard Couldwell, relationship manager at the Bank’s business and private banking centre in Doncaster.
Green Bros are looking forward to a period of expansion and growth, including creating new jobs, as it increases product lines and buying power to pass on savings to customers. The brothers are also anticipating the opening of another new site before the end of the year.
The company has been a Yorkshire Bank customer for five years, and director Paul Green says the strong working relationship has been important for their growth.
Paul said:
“We’ve grown our business on the foundations of providing a hands-on service and being competitive on price. Working with Yorkshire Bank gives us the flexibility to pursue growth opportunities such as expanding our premises and creating local employment.
“We were also able to grow during the recession. The downturn gave us a real opportunity to go out to talk to existing and prospective customers to understand what they needed, and for us to deliver.”
Richard Couldwell, relationship manager at Yorkshire Bank’s business and private banking centre in Doncaster, said:
“Paul, Lee and James have built up a strong family business with the prospect for future growth. By investing in their own modern premises they are laying the foundations for a successful future including the possibility of local job creation.
“As the local economy continues to show signs of improvement, we are committed to supporting the growth aspirations of successful businesses such as Green Bros.”
Yorkshire Bank recently launched a series of lending initiatives for UK businesses, designed to encourage growth for new and existing customers. As well as capital-free periods for up to five years, the Bank has also introduced high percentage funding for businesses to purchase or invest in trading premises.
Yorkshire Bank has strengthened its support for UK SMEs by becoming the first to partner with the British Business Bank under its ENABLE Guarantees scheme. Up to £125m of new lending by Yorkshire Bank, guaranteed by the British Business Bank, will help more small businesses achieve their growth ambitions.
