Virgin Money M Account

Our better than basic bank account with super smart tools to help manage your money

Who is the M Account for?

The M account is our free to use and super straightforward current account. If you're 16 or over and looking for a simple current account, it could be just what you're looking for.

It's also there for you if you've experienced financial difficulties or have a poor credit record. This might make it harder for you to be accepted for other bank accounts. You can open this account over the phone or in store.

What are the benefits?

  • It comes with our handy mobile app for smarter money management, plus a linked savings account
  • You can open this account with little or no credit history
  • We can accept non-standard ID for your application

Just remember

The M Account doesn’t come with an Arranged Overdraft. If you’re over 18 and looking for a current account which offers an overdraft (subject to status) then take a look at our Virgin Money Current Account.

Existing Clydesdale Bank Readycash current account customers

As an existing Readycash customer you will have received an email or a letter to let you know that we are giving your account a Virgin Money makeover and it will become a shiny new M Account.

It’s more than just a name change – your features and digital services are getting an upgrade too, with a new mobile app and an exclusive optional linked savings account.

What’s happening when?

Your Readycash account will become an M Account from 24 February 2021. If you’re happy with the name change, you don’t need to do anything as all your account details will stay the same and your Direct Debits and standing orders won’t change.

What if I don’t want an M Account?

Have a look on virginmoney.com/current-accounts to learn more about our other available accounts. If you’d prefer one of our other current account products, you should call us or visit one of our Stores and we can arrange this for you (subject to status and eligibility).

Or you can choose to close your account without charge once you’ve repaid any unarranged overdraft.

Can I still use my debit card?

Yes, you can keep using your existing card as usual. A shiny new card will be heading your way soon. We’ll let you know when it’s on its way.

I use the mobile app. Can I continue to use it?

You can still use your existing app. Our new Virgin Money mobile app will be available for you soon – we’ll let you know when.

It’s packed with clever features like tracking tools, budgeting and savings pots. Why not have a look to see what you’ll be able to do.

Can I still use Internet Banking?

Yes, you can. Virgin Money internet banking will also be available for you soon – we’ll let you know when.

Do I need to open a savings account?
